AQG is very excited to announce that all judged entries in the 2008 AQG Quilt Show were professionally photographed by Tracy Rasinski of TR Photography.  In addition to a photo of the whole quilt, detailed close up shots of all top award winners were also taken and will be included.  A CD is currently being produced and will be sent to you in approximately 4 weeks.  These are not THUMBNAIL shots, this CD will be a slide show based on categories and top awards.

If you were not able to attend the 2008 AQG Quilt Show or would like a souvenir of the show, just print the order form below, fill it out, and mail it with a check for $15.00 to the Arizona Quilters Guild, 2048 North 44th Street, Suite 212, Phoenix, AZ 85008.  Please note on your check that the check is for the "Quilt Show CD."

Delphia Anderson

Elements of Design For Quilters

The fundamental design elements of Balance, Scale, Proportion and Perspective will be presented so that even the beginning quilter will have the necessary design fundamentals to create your own “quilt of genius.”

Jody Beck

Jody’s Stack and Slash

For fast, fun quilts, this technique is great.  Perfection is not required when using this variation of a “Stack N Whack.”  Jody has designed many “Jody’s Jems” patterns using the “Stack N Slash” technique.  Stop in to see how quickly and easy these blocks go together.  You can easily make 60 blocks in a day!  Set together they form stars, pin wheels, or crazy quilt designs.

Judy Danz

Prepare Your Quilt For Longarm Quilting

Being ready for your longarm machine quilter can mean the difference between a beautifully quilted quilt and a quilt that’s gone wrong.  Learn how to prepare your quilt top, how to calculate yardage and make a quilt back, and how to help your quilter make the right quilting decisions for you!

Gail Piggott

Forget Hand Binding, Learn How to Sew on Bindings by Machine

If you have struggled with sewing your bindings on by hand (to front or back), Gail with show you how to sew on bindings using decorative stitching by machine.  The ins and outs of bindings including how to get perfect mitered corners will be discussed.

Diane Pitchford

Do You Know What Judges Look For?

Do you know what happens during the judging of a quilt show?  Have you ever received a quilt evaluation and did not understand the comments?  Why did one quilt receive a ribbon and another one did not?  As a Candidate in the NQA Certified Judges program, Diane will try to unlock the mystery.  Please note, specific quilts judged in this show will not be addressed.

Darlene Reid

Crazy Quilts Are The Gypsies of the Quilt World

Trunk  show and lecture regarding the history of crazy quilting in the United States and the hands on enjoyment of many pieces.

Glen Taylor

One of the top criteria for award winning quilts is “Visual Impact.” If you are “fabric and color challenged” this is the class for you. Glen  Taylor, an art quilter and architect, will present an overview of color theory and its impact on the selection of fabrics to enhance quilts. By using fabric samples and class participation, you will gain confidence to select fabrics for your next project.
