2018 Member of the Year

Monday, December 31st, 2018

Dale is one of those rare people who is a natural leader and inspires everyone. Over the years, she has demonstrated her unwavering love of quilting and of AQG. As President Elect, then President in 2016- 17, she was looking forward to a rest after her term ended. However, the AQG Board was in desperate need of a Quilt Show Director for the 40th Anniversary year of AQG. Dale had the expertise to take on this massive responsibility and did a superb job of organizing everyone so that the Quilt Show was a fabulous success. She did all of this for AQG, in spite of experiencing great physical pain over the last several years from her worn out knees

Dale is so well respected by the quilting community and loved by all who know her. Her accomplishments in the quilting world are too numerous to mention. Besides her generous spirit and kind heart, she always has a smile and a positive outlook. She has never sought out accolades and is always thinking of ways to help our guild be the best. It is because of her many positive qualities, her devotion to AQG and her outstanding leadership abilities, that she is most deserving of this award.

Congratulations to Pam Gagnier!

Pam has been involved with AQG in several positions, including stepping up to assist when a position was vacant.  She helps at the quilt show, makes sure her chapter gets AQG information in a timely manner, and is dedicated to chapter as well as our community service projects. When our own chapter seemed doomed a year ago. Pam took the Chair position for a second time in three years.  Her perseverance, friendliness, and dedication to quilters in the Cactus Patchers Chapter has paid off with new and returning members.  It’s a fun place to share the love of quilting!  All of this has been done while Pam has so much going on with family, including extended trips to take care of family business, that it’s a wonder she can get any quilting done at all. Regardless of personal commitments, Pam has always been able to support Cactus Patchers and AQG with a great attitude and a smile on her face.

Congratulations to Barbara Spitalny!

Barbara is an active member in Delightful Quilters and Night Owls.  She has held many positions such as Chapter Chair, program chair, education chair and co-creating the August retreat for the past three years. During her time as program chair she continuously searched for outstanding and meaningful programming. She empowers talented members to present trunk shows and also taught tips of the month to the members.

As education chair Barbara arranged for the members to have many opportunities to learn from National Teachers. She enlisted the skills of other AQG members to teach and speak at chapter meetings. As Chapter Chair her leadership talents and quilting enthusiasm resulted in a growth in membership. Barbara spent many hours dedicated to planning meaningful meetings that promoted charity quilting, sew days, and a love of quilting to over 80+ members.

Penny L says that Barbara’s effects has been like a pebble thrown into a pond.
