Quail Country Quilters Jan Chapter Report

Our December meeting was our annual holiday party! This year we had a Christmas Block drawing. Anyone that made and brought a block from this years chosen fabrics, was entered in a raffle. 6 winners received 8 blocks, plus a bag of the matching scraps to take home to make their own holiday quilt. Our wonderful party committee made a gift for everyone in attendance! Over 65 members were there.

The “Scrap Rats’ group, headed up by Bev L and Jeanne B, made over 80 quilts in 2016 that were used for charity or fund raising. At the party we gave away over 60 to local groups that included: The Verde Valley Sanctuary, a shelter for women and children; Rainbow Acres, a group home for disabled adults; Verde Valley Senior Center, primary organization for our local Meals onWheels; the Pediatric Intensive Care unit at the Flagstaff Medical Center; and the local VFW, for local vets in need. Ada Stern, also made a number of baby quilts for the House of Ruth, a non-profit pregnancy crisis center.

We also had a gift exchange and a pot holder exchange. That was followed by a fabulous potluck luncheon and deserts! We hope you all had wonderful holiday celebrations with your family and friends. Happy New Year!
