Busy Bees Feb Chapter Report

We’re The Busy Bees – Let’s Get Busy! Sounds like a cheer, doesn’t it? Actually, it’s the 2017 Theme for The Busy Bees Chapter. After looking over the Program Schedule for the new year, it appears that ‘staying busy’ should not be a problem for any of our members. Betsy S, our new Program Chair, with the help from the Round Table Planning Meeting, held on January 4th, has filled the calendar with all sorts of hive buzzing activities.
Scheduled classes/workshops include Dresden Plate, Twisted 9 Patch, A Crayon Quilt, Mesh Bags, Quilt-As-You Go, and A Block Carrier. Also, a committee is already buzzing with plans for A Mexican Fiesta to be held in the spring. Oops, I almost forgot to mention 2 Potluck Luncheons, and, of course our Annual Holiday Party.

Barbara J, from the AQG Speakers Bureau will be our guest speaker for February’s Program scheduled on February 1st. She will be giving her lecture on The Art of Landscape Quilting. The Bees certainly look forward to hearing her tips and techniques and seeing her Trunk Show.

The Busy Bees were guests of the Paradise Piecers at their annual Holiday Party in December. It was a delightful day meeting and visiting with other quilters, and the potluck was delicious. Thank you, Paradise Piecers.

Sadly, I report that the Busy Bees lost a cherished, active member. Joanne (Joni) L passed away on December 12, 2016. Joni was not only an avid quilter, but a beloved friend to all. The Busy Bees will truly miss her sunny disposition and her gracious spirit.

Our chapter welcomes visitors and new members. We gather on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Our classes/workshops are held on the first Wednesday and our business meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday.
