August President’s Letter

Dear Members,
Happy 40th Anniversary to AQG! It’s an amazing milestone that we’ve just started. We will be celebrating our Ruby Anniversary in many ways this year, most notably it will be our theme color: “Red and White”. We will be carrying this color in both the Fall and Spring Meetings and, of course, the quilt show theme will also be “Red and White” with the theme statement being: “What Does AQG Mean to You?”

We have a lot of new faces on the 2017-2018 Board of Directors. Joining this year as President-Elect is Norma Russen, Nancy Walter is our new Secretary, and Tracy Edwards is our new Treasurer. JoAnn Rice is on her second year as Membership Director and Ann Armstrong is returning to Special Projects. Joyce Jesko is joining Kimberly Murray and together they will be our Communications Co-Directors, with Joyce publishing the newsletter and Kimm publishing the website. Charlene O’Connell is our new National Education Director. We are still searching for a Traveling Teacher and Quilt Show Director; if you or someone you know might be interested, please let me know.

Member of the Year Nominations are included in this edition of the Patchwork Chatter. Surely, there is someone you know who makes a difference by contributing to AQG, their chapter, and their community. This is AQG’s opportunity to recognize an individual for their special efforts! Please nominate someone who is deserving of this wonderful award.

Charlotte Angotti will be our guest speaker at our Fall Meeting on November 11th, 2017. We are working on finalizing her visit to Arizona, look for more information coming soon!

Our membership drive has been a huge success and all the recognition goes to JoAnn Rice and the chapters membership chairs. We will be announcing the winners of the Raffle Baskets for both the chapter and individual winner at the Fall Meeting. Now that we have a lot of members who have accessed their information on the website it will only get easier for next year!

The entire board is excited about starting a new year and meeting all of you!
“Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.”
