April President’s Letter

Dear Quilters,
It’s almost time for the 2018 Spring Meeting in Lake Havasu!! Our host chapters have been working hard to make our last event of our 40th Anniversary a big affair. We are thrilled to have Jackie Kunkel be our guest speaker this year. Registration is still open through April 2nd, so sign up now.

Membership Renewal is now in progress, this is our third year of online renewals and we are continuing to increase the number of members who renew online. We THANK YOU for using this option  as it reduces paperwork and it works seamlessly with our membership database.

Enormous PRAISE to our Quilt Show Director, Dale Nokes!! The Ruby Extravaganza Quilt Show was wonderful. Dale did a fantastic job, everything was smooth as silk.

The Awards Ceremony began with special recognition of our 40th Anniversary Quilt, our Past Presidents, and every award winner in attendance. It was wonderful to be able to congratulate every winner, what an honor to be the one who announces their award! One of our special exhibits were the AQG Past Presidents Quilts, it was a must see.

The “Live” Quilt Auction was very successful. Mary Hoyer, AQG Past President downsized her quilt collection and donated over 50 quilts for the auction. We made quite a bit of money for Charity and will decide where to award it at the Spring Meeting.

Our members, volunteers, and vendors really rose to the occasion and made the show very special. A special thank you to the Board of Directors and The Quilt Show Committee for a job well done!! It takes a “village” to run the Quilt Show and we could not have done it without our Arizona QuiltersGuild volunteers. The theme for the 2019 QuiltShow   will be announced at the 2018 Spring Meeting.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Lake Havasu!

Laura Niemann, AQG President
