May President’s Letter

Cheers to our Spring Meeting Host Chapters … Havasu Stitchers and Kingman Quilters Guild! They did a wonderful job on the event. Beautiful quilts decorated the room, unique centerpieces, the wonderful favors and the outstanding raffle baskets were just some of the fun had at the meeting. The attending members voted to donate 50% of the Quilt Auction income to both Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center and Devereau equally. Jackie Kunkel was loads of fun and her quilts were beautiful! If you ever get a chance to see her lecture, don’t miss it!

The theme for the 2019 Quilt Show will be announced soon, this year we asked for ideas for next year’s Quilt Show Theme at the Spring Meeting. While this Chatter is the last one until August look for a message when we’ve made the decision for the 2019 Quilt Show Theme.

We have been blessed to have a nominee come forward for President Elect for the remainder of this year and will assume the duties of President on July 1st. We also have a nominee for Secretary and she will also begin her term on July 1st. So, please log onto the AQG website and VOTE! It’s so quick and easy, you will be amazed how  effortless it is.

Where has the time gone? Just over two years ago I was brand new to Arizona and became a member within months of moving to the state. Then I met Elaine Putnam and Dale Nokes, the AQG President and President Elect, and it’s been a whirl wind ever since!

I have enjoyed my time as part of the AQG Board, getting to know the members, and most profoundly what we do as a guild. The amount of charity work that is done at the chapter level is astounding, everyone should be proud of how we are contributing to the community.

Thank you for allowing me to be your President this past year. It has truly been a rewarding experience and I will treasure the lasting friendships made along the way. Our nominee’s need your support and guidance as they too start this journey. AQG is full of knowledgeable quilters and experienced chapter officers, any help you can give will beappreciated more than you know.

Sincerely yours,
Laura Niemann
AQG President
