December President’s Letter

Saturday, December 2nd, 2017

My apologies for not being able to attend the Fall Meeting with all of you! However, I have heard many wonderful comments about how fun it was, and I cannot wait to see the pictures! Many thank you’s to our President Elect, Norma Russen and Past President/Quilt Show Director, Dale Nokes, who stepped in for me during my absence and made it all happen. Norma, Dale, and the entire board kept the ship afloat and going in the right direction and I can’t thank them enough!

Norma has provided highlights of the Fall Meeting that I’d like to share with you:
Presiding over the Fall Business Meeting this year was such an honor for me, and I can’t thank you enough for all your support. This was great training for next year, for sure! It was such fun meeting so many of you for the first time, and getting to put faces to the names.

A special Thank You to our Host Chapters (Betweens, Cholla, and Delightful Quilters) for all their hard work this year. They did a wonderful job!

It was a very proud moment for me when I saw all the Hurricane Harvey donations that were delivered that morning! The Tucson Quilt Guild obviously underestimated the generosity of AQG members when they showed up with a van and realized they needed a very large truck to hold everything. Well done everyone!

Charlotte Angotti was so entertaining, and I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard! We had three affiliate vendors with lots of wonderful items for sale. Three Chapters were selling Raffle tickets for Opportunity Quilts and one Chapter with a sewing machine. Our Promotional Sales table was bursting at the seams with a lot of new products for our 40th Anniversary celebration, and we have begun selling AQG Raffle tickets for a drawing to be held at our Spring Meeting. But best of all, we had 220 members in attendance, supporting the Arizona Quilters Guild! Overall, it was a terrific event.

I hope your holidays are warm and bright and the New Year bring an abundance of love, joy, health, peace, and prosperity.

Laura Niemann, AQG President
